Chocolate & Cashmere
Today has been the perfect day to wear my favorite color in a warm, buttery soft sweater. I know I should probably have paired an accent color but I went with Chocolate Brown all the way today...like enveloping myself in a chocolate hug!

Serendipitous
Two weeks ago I ordered a cool poncho/sweater from ModCloth, a company I'd seen advertised on Making it Lovely. I never received a confirmation e-mail and I didn't jot down the order number assuming it'd be e-mailed to me (FAIL), so almost a week later, I contacted customer care to try to track down my order. The technician found nothing under my e-mail address and told me to assume that there was a glitch at checkout and that the order didn't go through....no matter that there was a hold for my order on my bank account. So I put the order through again Friday morning after I set up my customer account and then Friday afternoon my original order arrived on my doorstep (of course!). On the receipt was the reason we couldn't find the original order - I typed in my e-mail address wrong when I set up my account initially so I never received that confirmation e-mail - it went to "noiltamorgan" instead. D'oh!
I called to cancel the duplicate order but it was already shipping. (Efficient, they are!) I was a bit annoyed that the original technician couldn't track down my order via the specific items ordered or the amount ordered or the date/time of the order. The second tech said they would pay shipping for me to return the items because they should have been able to find the order in the system based on the information supplied. Both techs were very nice, by the way...
Because I loved my sweater so much, I decided to see if we could resolve this situation a different way, i.e. how could I keep both? I had Emi try on the sweater and she liked it so we've decided to keep both Fall Awakening Sweaters and Tree earrings.
Now we just need to find the perfect charcoal boots to go with!

Distractioning & Satisfactioning *
Elvis' A Little Less Conversation has been on my mind so much lately that I had to download it this morning to keep me going at work. I put my freshly charged ipod in my bag this morning and then promptly left for work without it. ;.( I blame my daughters for distractioning me today - I was running around turning out their lights when I should have been focusing on grabbing my bag (they were in the car).
I saw a cute charcoal sweater/poncho and ordered it (along with some cute earrings). I know it's hot as blazes outside but I am trying to usher in Fall as quickly as possible... I hope this helps! (because I will want to wear that sweater the second I get it).
In other news, Emi's hair is coming along nicely. I promised pictures last month but the comb out and style has taken a little longer because we left her hair in braids a little too long...
* FYI, after I got home I listened to my song on repeat until I was satisfactioned.

| What I wore to work today (not that you asked) |
So, anyway, I did something today that I never do (anymore, anyway, since I purchased that skirt above) and I am not ashamed! It's been a while since I splurged and bought something just out and not on sale. (Note: I have 1 pair of Joe Jeans and 1 pair of UGGs that I worked hard for and will keep until I die, likely). But today I didn't want to miss out.

Little Things I'm Thankful for Today *
1) Hollywood Tape. I love my thin linen baby aqua top from Harold's but I don't love flashing co-workers or the director of the Little Ones' new school (sorry!). And it's too hot outside to even wear a camisole underneath. Two small pieces of Hollywood tape and I am good to go. Not even my crossbody bag can undo the hold of this double sided tape. ![]() |
| No More Gaping |
3) Leftovers. Gnocchi pasta with turkey, mushroom, grape tomatoes and feta cheese leftover from Sunday dinner allowed us to get into the pool tout de suite last night after dinner. Spinach Artichoke dip made for snacking this weekend allowed me to avoid grabbing my lunch from the employee break room today.
4) My $1 J.Jill cable knit cardigan. While it's hot as blazes outside, it's still cold and drafty in my office and this cardi that I snagged at a garage sale earlier this summer has been as welcomed as an old friend these days.
*The Big Things are, of course, God, my husband and my family and friends (and our pool).

Trying Things
I had a whole post about my littlest girlie and how she's Trying Things (Terrible Twos? Terrible Threes?) but she was so stinking sweet and lovable tonight that I decided that that kind of post can wait (as well as the "Terrible" anything phases). Aubri's not the only one trying things though...
We woke up rushed for time this morning and I had on a denim skirt while looking for a top to wear to work. I grabbed a white top out of my closet and by the time I was in front of the kids' full length mirror to see how it looked, I realized it was not a top but a recent purchase from Athleta - a white Teelicious® Duh Dress. I was running late and it worked for me. I added my favorite belt and Emi's cool turquoise earrings and necklace, thinking folks might be distracted by the accessories (and my toes) to zero in on the fact that I was wearing a dress over a skirt but I still ended up telling everyone who complimented me on my attire about the skirt under dress. I loved the look and ordered 2 more to wear with leggings, or over a knit skirt or better yet, with a big scarf tied around the waist. This dress is very comfy, but a little thin, so that's why I was okay with wearing it to work - my office is cold and I could use the extra layer...
What do you think? Did I pull it off?
