Happy Easter

I'm getting ready to leave the country for 3 weeks, but I wanted to overcommit myself by hosting Easter dinner. It worked out though.

The Chindi Project

On Good Friday I found a cute little papier-mâché Easter Bunny when I was returning some items back to the craft aisle at Target. I decided I would try to make my Chindi rag project come to fruition because I have not been lucky enough to find a papier-mâché reindeer at Christmastime for the past 3 Christmases, and I didn't want to wait another 7-8 months to do this project.

Saturday evening I got busy tearing t-shirts into strips, twisting them and then hot gluing them onto my bunny. I ran out of glue sticks when I got to her belly button.  I had Scott and Emi stop by 3 stores to no avail.  One CVS was out of business, another closed and Walgreens did not have glue sticks. It was too late to head to Walmart because we the Easter Bunny had to fill the buckets and hide the eggs before bed so we were stuck with this for the night.

How It Panned Out for Me

Well, I thought the cake turned out nice. And while I liked the chocolate fudge frosting paired with the lemony cake, I think I'd prefer a lighter frosting next time, maybe a lemony buttercream? The family ate it up so it was definitely a hit.

Friday Emi and I tried to make Easter Egg decorations a la HeyKayli (as posted on my friend Jackie's blog)

These eggs weren't very sturdy and began to unravel quickly after Little Ones handled them...I will try again because it was easy and I would try crochet thread vice embrodery thread next time....

Happy Easter

We had a great weekend of RAIN and egg hunts and a great service at church! The outside hunt was nixed due to so much RAIN but we didn't complain...everything is greening up around here and having a nice long drink.


We dyed some Easter eggs.



We also watched a wonderful movie that I'd rented from the library on a whim. I didn't expect to like the movie, just rented it for the kids. Like Stars on Earth... such a beautiful story that I cried much of the movie and I am definitely getting the soundtrack. I can TOTALLY recommend the movie and challenge you not to cry...

Bunny Holly

After a Very Long Day celebrating Scott's birthday, we finally got into bed around 2:30am. 4 hours later Emi woke us up to let us know that the Easter Bunny had come!! It was fruitless to convince her to wait 2 hours to hunt for eggs or dig into the candy in her basket. She dubbed her new bunny "Bunny Holly" .... too cute...

Easter Weekend Update

This Easter weekend was busy. Hippie Chicks - a catering business that my friend Janna and I run very infrequently - had a baby shower gig for 40. We were busy cooking and prepping Friday evening. It was a good time to catch up with each other and we had another friend over to witness the craziness. It was a GLORIOUS day and evening and so was S-A-T-U-R-D-A-Y!

The food was delivered successfully and tasted yummy (yes, we LOVE our food!). We hope the shower was a success We should probably check back with the client. So after recovering a little from the massive food prep, we got down to the business of dying eggs. Actually, Emi and her daddy dyed eggs. I just took photos and appreciated the art created...

Sunday, after church we headed out to the lake for a traditional Easter dinner of ham, potato salad, lots of chocolate, etc. And the kids had a nice little egg hunt after they got their sugar buzzes on... Check it out!
