When we got to the first location (which turned out to be THE location), it was just after sunrise and there were only 2 other people on the lake at the time. We practically had the place to ourselves and we were close to a playground and a bathroom. Score!
Good Morning from Binder Lake |
We strategically set up closest to the dock, lodge and playground.
While we were unloading our stuff, we heard loud scratchy noises coming from the lodge deck trash bins. I was afraid to look directly into the bin, so I snapped this picture first. This guy must've gotten trapped after a late night snack...
This guy was freed... |
We hung out around the trails and snacked and over the next few hours, more people showed up to watch the eclipse. Most were from Oklahoma and were just as surprised as we were that the lake was not crowded.
We didn't see a lot of wildlife except for the ducks and geese. Every time we looked at the water, there were more birds.
Things were so peaceful on the water and it was so nice to be outside (instead of holding down my desk under the fluorescent lights).
Scott had his drone video us right before and right after the total eclipse... What a cool idea!
This is the only decent capture we got of the eclipse with our old school digital camera.
What a great experience that we almost missed. Love our family adventures!
