The Phoenix Sun(day)...

I can't express how much we needed THIS diversion/excursion to a nice warm place with nothing planned. We were on our way to Long Beach today for a conference aboard the Queen Mary. Everything was going smoothly until our connecting flight from Phoenix to Long Beach was canceled. Because of the UCLA game and Spring Break, all of the other flights were completely booked and unless we wanted to rent a car and make the 6 hour drive (something US Airways might not reimburse), we had to stay in Phoenix until the next morning when Travelocity was kind enough to get us to Long Beach! We had to hang out at the airport and get our luggage so we'd have our swim suits (something that I was unsure that we'd get a chance to use in California) and then we took the shuttle to the hotel.

It was in the 80's so we immediately changed into our swim suits and headed to the pool where we parked ourselves for the afternoon....

Thanks, again, US Airways! We love you!

Easter Weekend Update

This Easter weekend was busy. Hippie Chicks - a catering business that my friend Janna and I run very infrequently - had a baby shower gig for 40. We were busy cooking and prepping Friday evening. It was a good time to catch up with each other and we had another friend over to witness the craziness. It was a GLORIOUS day and evening and so was S-A-T-U-R-D-A-Y!

The food was delivered successfully and tasted yummy (yes, we LOVE our food!). We hope the shower was a success We should probably check back with the client. So after recovering a little from the massive food prep, we got down to the business of dying eggs. Actually, Emi and her daddy dyed eggs. I just took photos and appreciated the art created...

Sunday, after church we headed out to the lake for a traditional Easter dinner of ham, potato salad, lots of chocolate, etc. And the kids had a nice little egg hunt after they got their sugar buzzes on... Check it out!

Japanese Anime?

My hubby and I have been finishing up the walls - texturizing with joint compound and painting - and this morning when I woke up, I saw some hidden artwork in the wall behind my dresser. What do you think? Can you see her?

In My Life...

But of all these friends and lovers
There is no one compares with you
And these memories lose their meaning
When I think of love as something new
Though I know I'll never lose affection
For people and things that went before
I know I'll often stop and think about them
In my life I love you more

Wish I Were a Fish

Today our sweet little girl had her first piano recital. She started out singing I Wish I Were a Fish and her daddy and I were so proud! Daddy was worried she wouldn't perform, but I know that she LOVES to perform. It's no sweat to her because she knows she's got talent. Grandma Babe and MeeMaw and PeePaw were there to see their granddaughter sing so beautifully too, and later PeePaw could not stop gushing about how wonderful Emi's performance and confidence was. She also played a duet of Shepherd Count Your Sheep once as written, and a second time with improvisation. So awesome to see her beautiful hands playing the piano.

Over the Rainbow...

Wish I was....

Somewhere over the rainbow
Skies are blue
And the dreams that you dare to dream
Really do come true

A friend sent me this beautiful video that just made me cry it was so beautiful. Innocent and pure and good. I'd seen it before and just loved it so I thought I'd share it and another version by Tommy Emmanuel (who I've had the pleasure of seeing live at the Walnut Valley Festival in Winfield, KS.)

Morg-chid Monday...

Orchids take their sweet time in preparing to bloom and luckily for us, the blooms stay around for a long time too. My husband bought me this orchid many years ago - that is why I was SO upset when I broke the stem of this bloom a few months ago moving it to my new office. Happy to report that the orchid stem (new graft has taken) is so very symbolic of our love and life together these days, stronger than ever...

John 15:2 Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit, He takes away. And every one that bears fruit, He prunes it so that it may bring forth more fruit.
